Our commitment to the environment
WHO cares about THE ENVIRONMENT?
At the Italian Leather Company, we care!
We care about the world around us and the legacy we leave for our children and their children’s children. That is why we have made a commitment to ensure all our suppliers must meet or exceed the highest environmental standards. Our suppliers are ISO accredited and follow professional processes throughout their entire business.
The raw skins are all from sustainable sources such as Germany and New Zealand where some of the finest cattle are grown with little natural harm from insects and arid conditions for growing cattle.
We ensure all chemicals are used within strict environmental controls and our dyes are water-based.The water from our tanning process is tested to ensure its purity before it is returned to the environment. Leather is a natural product and as such is environmentally friendly.
We want you to enjoy your luxury product with the added value of knowing the environment is not harmed in the process of its creation.
Our beautiful leather range is created with water-based dyes. This means we don’t use harmful heavy metals like Cadmium or PCP. It also means they are solvent free.
Less chemicals used by extended soaking and liming processes.
All wastewater is cleaned in a biological treatment plant, recycled and reused. Streams and lakes are protected from nitrogen emissions and over-fertilisation by using nitrogen-free substances in the deliming stage.
Our tanneries are continuously monitoring and ensuring they met the high standards set by the Economic Union for environmental safety and upholding laws such as REACH.
Our products are sourced from Germany and New Zealand where they are grown in natural farming environments in a healty environmentally friendly manner.
